Renowned Real Estate Investor Deka Rodger and author of 2 books ‘Income For Life for Investors’ and ‘Essential Real Estate Investing Knowledge for Beginners’ made a dramatic switch from Real Estate investing to an International Home Based Business opportunity early last year.  Our question was why?

In a brief recent telephone interview we posed a number of questions to Mr. Rodger. We have condensed the interview in its entirety and listed the main aspects of the interview for ease of reference.

His research involved looking at Companies, which had been active over 5 years.  The Company he chose is in its 9^th year of operation and keeps growing, “a very healthy sign,” he stated.  He did not want to sell lotions, potions, vitamins or magic chocolate and did not want to hold inventory.   He also wanted a quick return on his investment, and this Company’s business model and compensation plan supported an excellent Return on Investment.   After much research, he chose a company called Liberty League, a market leader in a growing $19 Billion Personal Development Network Marketing Industry.

His biggest challenge was learning how to market successfully on the Internet.  “With any business you have to be educated in that business to be at the top of your game and initially that was not the case for me” he stated.  Fortunately, he researched and found a great tutor at an expense obviously, who took him through a very intense Internet Marketing Bootcamp.  He stated “that for some reason people seem to think that they can open an online business without an Internet Marketing education”, he continues “in any business you have to invest in education, right up until I decided to make a change from Real Estate I was still going to Real Estate Investing seminars”.  He continues, “knowledge is power, you have to continually gain knowledge so that you can use it”.

His aim is to have the biggest most successful team in this industry and for that to happen he needs to have the best training in place for his team.  He comments, “I’m already building a company within a company and to be able to do that you have to have the best training in place to support your team”.   He has spent a considerable amount of time setting up a state of the art training curriculum for his team members.

Why do most people who start their own online Home Based Business do things back to front? What is this author on about I hear you ask? Did you start your own online Home Based Business not knowing how to properly market on the Internet?
You answered yes right?

It seems that most people in this industry seem to make the same mistake when they venture out into their own online Home Based Business opportunity. Most other professionals regardless of profession open up their business once they are fully qualified. An accountant for example will open up his own company once he realizes that he is a good accountant and he is probably going to bring with him a decent sized client base before he/she makes that decision. Truth be known most people starting their own business practically know all aspects of their business before even making a decision to start their own company. Yet for some strange reason people starting their own Internet home based business, we do it back to front maybe because we haven’t pursued what Internet training is involved? There is an art to everything and if you do not have the basics behind you, then welcome to the mass of struggling Home Based Business Entrepreneurs.

Online Marketing Education:

Don’t be disgruntled it’s far from over however, it’s that time again, it’s time to go back to school and it does not take that long if you get the right tutor and do a bit of cramming you can definitely have exposure on the net with a relative short time.

My advice is to stop spending your marketing dollars NOW and seek out some proper education in this field it’s money very well spent and your earning potential will dramatically improve. There was a huge improvement in my online business when I took the advice that is basically listed here, get educated and save yourself tons of money and start earning, that’s why you started your online business right? You have made the decision to move into an online business, great. We’ve done our due diligence on the company and its products and we have made the bold move of parting with hard earned money to move into something that is going to give you and your family a much better lifestyle. Lifestyle tends to be for most people having a better financial situation. Some people state that it is not about money and that is absolutely correct however, a lot of the time money gives you the things that is going to give you that lifestyle right. Whether it is staying at home with our children, changing our zip code, change our car and go on multi vacations every year. Money gives us time and with time we have freedom and its get rid of that most important weight we carry around on our shoulders, stress.

The Internet regardless of what business your in can give you that financial freedom as long as we know how to attract interested parties to your website. When interested parties are attracted to your website there is a chance of a sale. If no one is visiting your site there is actually no chance of making a sale. So how do we get people to our site? What an absolutely great question and there is no real straight forward answer as there is a lot of different strategies available to get people to your site. Firstly, there are a huge number of professional Internet marketers out there and they all have different Internet marketing strategies with low to high end costs. Wait a minute, I’ve just spent X amount of dollars on joining this program and now your on about investing in a professional Internet marketer to do my marketing? Actually, we are not saying that at all however, we do strongly recommend that you do not go into Internet marketing totally blind. It can gobble up your money very quickly if you are not exactly sure on what you are doing. Although all the big search engines Google, MSN, Yahoo etc all give good education programs on how to set up your accounts and how to put an ad together, unless you are exceptional at ad writing and can choose the correct keywords for the niche that you have identified yes, that’s the first question, the niche you have identified? Then our advice is to seek out advice on Internet Marketing before you take that leap of faith.

Where to get this advice?

Your first point of contact is the person who introduced you to this business but our advice is to not just take their advice, and here’s why not. You are now in an online business and you at this time are looking to make a sale and maybe at this time you have put an ad in the local paper. You get some prospects and hey presto you make a sale and someone joins your team. They ask you ‘How do we advertise on the Internet? You have only just started yourself how on earth can you advise your new team member and the same situation could be the same with you. The person who brought you on to the team is could be relatively inexperienced with the internet as well.

Tried And Tested

Internet marketing has many spokes to its wheel, and if you take your website as being the hub then there are at least another 12 things you should be doing to drive traffic to your website. Press Releases, Pay Per Click (PPC) banner advertising, SEO blogging, just to name a few. And, most of these Internet strategies need to be re-visited on a regular basis in order to maintain a regular presence on the Internet. This is after you have been able to gain a good page ranking of course. Personally we don’t believe that you can survive on the Internet especially if you have an online business without have other strategic Internet marketing in place to support your website. The reason why we can say this is we have went through the same scenario and we after wasting a ton of money found the education that we needed to get us where we needed to be. We are not saying in any shape or form that this is the product that is going to make you number one in your company but anyone joining our team we immediately introduce them to this Internet Online education, which hugely increased our presence on the web.

Who would open up a business in today’s economic climate?

Not me I hear you say!!!  You would be absolutely off your head to even consider opening up your own business at this particular time.I mean, whether it’s a restaurant, garage or a hairdressing salon, they all require a building of some sort.  Whether you buy it (mortgage) or lease it (long term contract) Right?  Then you have to get, insurance, utilities in your name, you will have to buy products like oil, filters, and other mechanical parts, tools hairdryers and shampoo’s and food, tables, chairs and refrigerators depending on the business.  Then you will have to get, well, you need staff right; you’re going to need other mechanics, other hairstylists, chefs and waiters.  Yep, all this and you haven’t earned a penny yet. 

 So what does that mean?  Well you’re probably going to have a large outlay of money right, yep a very large outlay of money.  Well you might be able to get a loan to get started right, not for me this, no way.  And, just think of the hours you would have to put in initially on just making the business work.  Then you have to, do some advertising, because if you don’t do advertising nobody’s going to know you’re in business, that’s more money right. I wonder how many cars the garage owner would need to service before he makes any money considering his overheads and the same for the hairstylist and the restaurant owner for that matter. 

Lets not forget that all these new business owners are all local business owners, all competing against other garages, hairstylists and restaurants in the same local area for the same local business!!  That’s going to be tough you would think.  I mean all those other garages etc, have all been established and have a reputation right.  Opening a business in this climate, actually any climate for that matter, it’s not for me. 

Wait a minute, I opened a business, and it was in the middle of last year.  I didn’t buy a building or go into a long-term lease, no sir.  I didn’t have to buy any materials or hire any staff to do my business.  I’m not competing with other local businesses.  I’m an International Business man doing business in all of the 50 States and every English speaking country.  I’m currently active in 8 different countries, yes sir.  I just needed the Internet, which I already had and an international telephone system, which costs  $29.95 a month. I start work at 12 noon and finish at 4 pm and I don’t work Friday’s anymore.  My line of work (Internet) turns out more millionaires annually than any other tool that has ever been available in the world today.  I believe I’m working very smart and not hard, I will never have to work hard again.

For some reason the worse the economy gets the better I seem to be doing.  Why’s that I wonder? 

Maybe because the dept of labor announced that by the end of the year 2010 the biggest employer in the US will be SELF.  Yep, I’m glad I opened my own business and here’s the most incredible thing about this, I’ve earned more money in this business than anything in my previous years. I looked at the opportunity did my research and boom, it paid off.  I’m a multiple 6 figure income earner and it’s not even been a year yet.  I am happy to say, I am an international home based business entrepreneur.  And, you can be too.  Having the lifestyle you’ve only dreamt of.  However, like any business there is an investment required, hey, but guess what nothing like the businesses, which mentioned above.
